Brent's Trauma Insurance Story
Brent is a builder. 5 years ago he met with a Canopy adviser to set up some Life insurance for himself. His Canopy adviser suggested that it might be a good idea to include a Trauma policy as part of his insurance portfolio. Brent wasn’t keen to spend much on insurance, but in discussion with his Canopy adviser decided that in fact, taking on a Trauma policy was a sensible option for him as a self employed builder with a mortgage of $400,000 and kids still at home. His adviser gave him some really valuable insights into why Trauma could be a good product for him to consider and eventually he decided to add it to his portfolio.
Since then Brent was diagnosed with bowel cancer and has had to take a serious amount of time off work. He quickly made a claim on his Trauma policy. When the insurer was considering his claim his Canopy adviser was on hand to answer questions, talk to the insurance company and represent him in the process. His Canopy adviser’s relationship with the insurer was of great assistance in to get a successful outcome for the claim. Brent received a $250,000 payout from his insurer immediately.
This money has been invaluable; helping him to get back on his feet, meet the living costs of his family. He’s made major lifestyle changes and can focus on trying to get better. He and his wife have even looked into overseas treatment – something he probably wouldn’t have been able to afford had he not had the policy.
